  How did we come by our name you ask? Well, we are at the south end of Hillsborough County, FL, and there are lots of dirt roads out here, so when it's dry everything's covered in dust and when it rains, in mud! 

     Some years ago we got enthralled with hunting, and went all the way to Zephyrhills to bring back our first 'hunting' pups, 2 black mouth curs that we named "Sanson" and "Delaila". They took down their first piglet in a tag team event when they were just about 3 months old.  Since those first 2 dogs, we started investigating other hunting breeds, until we finally found the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog.

     We did a lot of online research, and went to get our first Catahoula pup "Jalisco" from the nice folks up at Panhead Kennel. What a dog he's turned out to be!   After we found out what great dogs Catahoulas are, we decided that we had to have more, so we started looking for a pup to grow up and cross with Jalisco. We eventually found the most adorable pup at Confederate Catahoulas, so we brought her home and named her "Hyna".  We are a hog hunting kennel, but we also show our dogs, both NALC and UKC.

     Here at Dirty South Catahoulas, we strive to breed for conformation, performance, and personality, not especially for coat or eye color, that's just a bonus! 

     Thinking of getting a Catahoula? Keep in mind that these are dogs that need JOBS, or at the least a good space to roam around in to use up all that energy.
